Ha im kidding, so cheesy (wasn’t joking about Moulin Rouge though, that films incred.)
Bit of background: I am currently 19 and I’m very much dreading turning 20 in September :( Could give you the jist of who I am by listing what I put on my cv but a large proportion of that is lies so I won’t bother (eg that I speak Japanese.. lol). I like to travel a lot though so I’m not too bad on languages, next place top on my list to go is Las Vegas woop! Just got to wait til I turn 21 booo. Not so much now but I used to play lots of music, saxophone, piano, clarinet, bit of drums and so on which I miss a bit nowadays :( I’m quite revolved around academics coz I’m not very talented in the creativity department or generally any other department lol but I like it so it makes me happy and makes me feel like I have something to work towards I guess… not to brag but I was a member of the national association for gifted and talented youth once upon a time :P but when I was filling out the form I spelt my name wrong, it confused me! I was never very welcome in that group lol…
Technically the only place I would call home is where I grew up in a tiny village called Bretherton in Preston. Im from a big family (one of 5 siblings) and growing up, there was always all of us, plus my mum and dad, plus my sisters boyfriend, plus various other friends etc that were at our house 24/7 so we had a beautiful big farmhouse which I lived in for 18 years and I miss it every day. In 2007 ish my mum and dad split up and since then my middle brother Austin moved out and my big sister Maylis moved in with her boyfriend of the time so me and my 2 other brothers max and oliver have moved a couple of times with my wonderful papa and our dog ‘pog’ and currently live in Much Hoole which is nice enough. I suppose home is where your family is and I love coming back but I spend most of my time in leeds where I go to uni, which is also pretty fabulous!
I always said blogs were just a bit of an attention seeking thing for fairly self involved people but I take it back, iv read a few peoples and I think it’s a really good way to get stuff down and I don’t really care if anyone reads mine its just so I can keep a track of everything and look back on it and smile :) Then again if people do read it then yay I hope you enjoy it!

So yeah I like to think I’m a very positive person and I love a lot of things and people but out of everything in the world I love nothing more than my family. My dad, Simon who we call pie is the most wonderful amazing person I know, he has never let me down, he’s like my best friend, he would give up everything for any of us and dedicates his life to his kids and giving us the best life possible and I can’t imagine what I would do or where I would be without him, I love him very, very much.

I have 3 brothers, all of which I am very close to. My oldest Oliver is a fun loving, free wheeling love dove and looks out for me when I need him without question. Austin (sprinkles for some reason) is like nobody else I have ever known, he makes me laugh a lot and never has a bad word to say about anyone and I hope he is very, very happy in life because he deserves it. Me and my little brother max were inseparable growing up, I cant explain how much he amuses me! It’s crazy how similar we are and he is one of the very few people that truly understands me. When we were little we would fall out every single day… if I had a quid for every time iv said ‘right that’s it I am never ever talking to you ever again!’… but that’s inevitable given how much time we spent together and how bossy and stubborn I was, (WAS). My favourite game was a little gem I made up called queens and servants coz he was always the servant obviously…

To many people I am known as ‘mini may’ and everyone who calls me that knows how much I hate it! Not because I don’t want to be like may, just because we are actually not very alike and it would be nice to be my own person! Tbf if I was actually a mini may, it wouldn’t be so bad, shes an alright kid :P Me and maylis are very close and get on like peas in a pod, especially in recent years. My mum was a really good mum when we were growing up, we had such a good childhood but I don’t see her very much since she left us and moved to Scotland. So since then may has been like a mum especially while me and max were still little and now she’s like a best friend to me. There is very little I don’t tell her, coz as much as I deny it we are really similar and she gets me. I’m lucky to have may coz we like all the same things, think all the same things, have a lot of mutual friends and like to do the all the same things so I could spend all the time in the world with her, it makes me sad I don’t get to see her very much now I live in leeds though. But I really hope everything works out good for her coz she works really hard and deserves it very much. I am proud to be her sister.
All my siblings mean a lot to me and I wont hear a bad word about them so back off!
I joke I joke, I’m not a very angry person… although thinking about it I did get in a fight once on new years eve in a night club in Portugal (won ofc) but generally if people don’t steal my melon or question my science I’m happy :D
However nerdy it is, science is my thing and it’s the only thing I’m good at. I study biomedical sciences at leeds uni but I wish I had had the faith in myself to apply for medicine coz I probably could have got in in the end, oh well that’s the next course on my list coz I intend to be a cosmetic surgeon when I’m through with the many, many more years ‘studying’ I have ahead. Not that I’m complaining, I frikin love being a student! Moving to leeds was possibly the best decision of my life, I’ve met so many beautiful people and it has everything I could want, I think I am definitely a city girl :)
Also leeds has fuelled my love for poker coz I hang round with a lot of players here, not that I’m particularly good but I really, really enjoy playing. Ideally I would play a lot more but its hard dedicating and putting the hours in coz my course is quite demanding. I think if you want to do something you have to put 100% in, there’s no point putting 50% effort into one thing and 50% in another so I’ve been focussing on uni but being a dossy student, iv finished now until october so I’m going to make a massive effort to improve my game, but it’s easy putting the time in when it’s something you enjoy so I’m happy :) I’m lucky coz a lot of people have offered to help me which is nice and I’m really grateful for it, damn them all being in vegas for 2 months though! When they get back im straight on it lol. Recently my friend james has been helping me out a bit, we haven’t done so much yet but he’s a really good player and I’ve learnt a lot already! Also I would like to play live more, especially as I live next door to alea casino so if anyone wants to come let me know!
To quote Jonathan Salfi, ‘you need to understand the winning formula, then it’s about printing money as quick as you can until a very slow and painful death from variance constantly f***ing with your head’… hmm wise, wise words.
I would like to say I’ve tried really hard at uni this year but it’s hard to be motivated when you know it doesn’t count and you only need 40% to pass. Even so, i’ve found it really hard and I have tried and put a lot of work in so I’m pretty sure iv passed fingers crossed… everything except pharmacology, I hate pharmacology so much and it’s so hard! We get results on July 1st so if I haven’t passed nobody is allowed to judge me and be mean coz it was so so hard and I promise I tried really hard for that. Sorry in advance dad.

I’m considering trying this new technique: the other week I had a lab exam and somehow got scammed into going out the night before. I was only going to go for one drink for toms bday coz they all went for tea at bar and grill but I turned up and there was 2 extremely strong cocktails waiting for me, sigh, and then a woman appeared behind me with a tray of black sambuca shots, sigh again, and when I declined she got angry and said ‘everyone must have one. Birthday tradition.’ So turned up very hungover the next day and accidentally fell asleep mid way through oops, which was very embarrassing but somehow came out of it with 95%! Coincidence? I think not.
Maybe the only bad thing that came from moving here is that before I came I had a fairly long term boyfriend, matt. He was a good boyfriend and we were together about 2 years but when I moved away I don’t think he liked it and he got clingy and jealous and I couldn’t be doing with it but it’s a shame coz I would have liked to stay friends with him. This was in September ish last year and it made me really appreciate being single and free and put me off relationships for a while, the way I see it I’ve got my whole life to be married etc, might as well appreciate being young while I can!
Plus I think I’ve got a bit fatter recently which doesn’t exactly make you want to get in the game but I’m going on a funfilled holiday in Portugal in august so I’m going to be healthy and go to the gym lots and get sexxyyyyyy ;)
My new years resolution this year was to be more spontaneous which I like to think I have been :) I’ve had a lot of fun so far this year, it’s hard to sum it all up in a blog post so just take my word for it. Spent wayyyy too much money but I think it’s worth it if it makes memories. I went with my course friends hannah and helen to amsterdam in february which was hilarious and i defo want to go back! Over the easter break I went to down to London coz may was playing some poker things so I decided to tag along and we stayed with our old friend gaz in canary wharf. We did so many awesome things, on the first night we went and got a table with a candyfloss flavoured shisha in funky Buddha with all the poker guys which was so cool! We got very very drunk and it was one of the best nights I’ve had. On the next night we went to Mahiki and got this crazy treasure chest boat shot surprise thing which was also very cool, we went to nice restaurants, went ice skating, bowling, saw a scary show, did some London shopping etc etc was an all round amazing trip. Not that we haven’t had some awesome nights in leeds! Generally there are 2 types of night out I go on:
1) Me and Stacey and Tom go to tesco and buy lots of cheap alcohol and spend a long time choosing what to wear, then about 9pm there’s about 15 of us that gather in our flat and get drunk and play silly games like ring of fire, never have I ever, justin bieber game and so on then we go to whatever night is best that night (ie tues=Faversham, wed=O2). We recently went to a place on park row called bierkeller which is so much fun! It’s like this german beer fest bar where all the waitresses are dressed like milkmaids and everyone stands on the tables and they serve big litre beer tankards and play retro music. Love it! Then it all gets a bit hazy and you go wherever the night takes you.
2) Meet all the poker guys for tea somewhere (recently jake won a giant scoop and took everyone to gauchos on him which was very lovely of him so thank you very much Mr Cody) that was one of the nicest restaurants I’ve ever been to so that was fun. Then head down to sky lounge for many watermelon martinis or to call lane, Oporto and smokestack are my fave, where there is a high chance of many jagerbombs being drank, so that’s always fun! Then, again, it all gets a bit hazy and you go wherever the night takes you ;)
Hard to say which I like better, both are fun!
In a couple of weeks I am moving to headingley into a beautiful big house with 6 of my best girlfriends: Stacey, Lottie, Kate, Rosie, Jess and Zoe (in no particular order) which I am very excited about! Everyone is invited to our housewarming party in July :D I think living in headingley will be good coz where I am in Clarence dock atm it’s a bit out of the way but headingley is about 95% students and has everything so I’m looking forward to that. However the fact that I am being forced to pay 2 rents meant I had to get a job like a real functioning member of society rather than be a bum studo who gets all their new shoes bought for them by the uk tax payer :( so from 10th june I start work in a lovely little café called Lento, feel free to stop in for a coffee… unless you’re just coming to laugh, then you’re not welcome. However if you bring me a present I’ll gladly take the mocking.
Generally that’s me in a nutshell. I’ve decided from this moment to take nothing for granted, every day will either be a good day or a great day!
