July fun

So I haven’t blogged for a while but that’s coz nothing exciting has really happened. Im loving not being at uni, doing what I want 24/7 and I found out I passed 1^st year which was a relief coz I swear I should have failed pharmacology (ended up getting like 50 odd % but a pass is a pass!) whats pretty ridiculous though is that I must have been to maybe 1 microbiology lecture the whole semester, no joke, coz they are ridic boring and always at 9am but I averaged like 90% in that. Less effort=better results.
Actually, i did go to preston just for one night coz it was my sisters birthday, we went for a big meal at San Marco then an unplanned trip into town, it was really good coz all my siblings were there and we are not all together often and I somehow managed to only spend £10 the whole night! result :)

 A couple of weeks ago we went to Manchester coz I got some tickets for Jeremy kyle which I thought would be uber cool! But then I realised it was for ‘jeremy kyle… high stakes’ no I don’t know what this is either but it has been described as follows:

‘Imagine a game show... with the excitement of Deal or No Deal, but where smart contestants can influence their fate...

Imagine a big money quiz... with the drama of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, but where skillful contestants need to push their luck...High Stakes is that show!

Sounds pretty good I thought, better had be seeing as I was coming all the way from leeds to watch so I got the train etc in plenty of time then it turned out my sister was coming with our friend james who apparently drives like a slo mo grandma coz they were very late and by the time we got to the itv studios it was full and they didn’t let us in :( we would have been awesome audience members so their loss I say. Instead we went for some tea at this place called taps which turned out to be really cool coz you get your own beer pumps at your table with whatever beer you ask for and a mystery beer! So you serve yourself and it tallys up how much you have in half pints… I tried outsmarting the little electric thing and poured just under half a pint so it wouldn’t know but when the bill came it said ‘7/10’s of a pint’ you win this time sneaky clever table.

Then later that week I got us tickets to watch the x factor auditions in Liverpool (not to actually audition which was a common misconception among people, that would have been horrific) which was actually really fun, went with may, max, Austin and james and there were a lot of angry scousers but also A LOT of beautiful irish men which I loved! The best part was when we met Ollie murs coz I think he is lovely and I swear if it was free I definitely would have voted for him. We didn’t even meet him on purpose and I wish I had made an effort to look nice coz as it turns out we are going to be on tv a lot so nobody is allowed to watch that episode coz it will be really embarassing :( they must have liked the look of us coz the cameras were following us everywhere! And Ollie murs just turned up next to us for a bit of a chat and they did some interviews and stuff… and he called me babe! …and he touched my hand, on purpose! It was awesome! We’re pretty much dating now :D it’s a bit humiliating how excited we got and how many times we jumped around going ‘I’VE GOT THE X FACTOR’ so I hope to god they don’t put that on tv.

Since Stacey has come back off holiday iv stayed in leeds with her, the boys are back from America and JZ came to stay for a few days so I have lots of friends again :D while jess was here we did a fair bit of partying, one night was very unplanned and we ended up getting very very drunk and wandering the streets looking for a party… we just followed the music into some house and partied with some randomers, bit like the pied piper. Unfortunately I had work at 9 the next day and got in trouble as per.

Ask any student and they will tell you the best night on a Monday is quids in at halo, mainly coz its cheap but also coz halo is a church converted to a nightclub so its really sinful and always gets the right amount of busy. At the same time its also very scummy and chavvy but we went there anyway after a pre party at tom and jess’s new gaf. That night I was wearing the ‘preppy pirate school girl’ look apparently… but theres no pics :( so cant show you all :( it was cool though, take my word for it, I will personally show anyone massively intrigued. That night we had lots of these shots called agwa or akwa or something which are basically jagerbombs with chocolate liquor in, don’t remember so much if they are nice but they sound amazing!

Chilled out on the partying a bit after that coz its very bad for me, health wise and also natwest aren’t happy. Tom also came to stay so went for a day out to krispy kremes and ikea and helped niall and sarah move into their new place at city island which is lovely.

My friends ben and matt who live in London ish were coming up for my party but coz they were coming all the way from there they decided to stay for 2 nights along with maylis and max. So we went out for tea to wasabi which is definitely up there in my top leeds restaurants so that’s always entertaining. Ben and matt really amuse me, they talk very posh and I think matt is posh on the inside too as he is a very clever pro sng grinder and was on countdown lol but ben is pretty crazy. Some of you might have seen him at APAT, he was a pro skateboarder and is a big fan of tailored suit shorts, he makes me laugh a lot. One new years eve they decided to go to the top of a freezing mountain and get naked and throw paint over themselves, very random anyway I think this sums him up quite well… watch from 30 secs.

One place I still really reallyyyy want to go is anthonys, heard lots of nice things and its got a good rep so that next on my list. Anyway after wasabi we went down call lane to all the classic places, Oporto, vodka revs etc and got my favourite birthday cake shots and got tricked into having a chilli shot which are crazy hot! Especially seeing as im a lemon and herb girl :( 

I intended not to drink that night coz the next day it was mine and staceys party but wtevs, them boys are bad influences. Pretty hungover after that but got back on the kopperberg pretty quick like a trooper and went to sainsburys to spend much more than intended on beer and vodka and Malibu and wine and skips among many many other things.

I was saying to someone the other day its really weird coz literally all my friends at uni are girls, I live in a house of 7 girls, friends with all girls off my course… we always moan theres not enough boys around! But at our party the ratio was massively shifted to the male side, I guess coz all my uni friends are at home dotted around the country. I don’t think the boys were very happy about this lol but its only fair coz we are having another party in freshers week coz my bday is then too and that’s guna be mainly girls so everyone wins.

Someone deleted all the pictures off my camera which is really annoying but mays friend Helen took a few. A lot of scandalous things happened that night but I am not at liberty to share them with the public… all I say is a lot of sex went down (mainly with Carla, the poor girl) and including a threesome, too much drinking, silly boys fighting, blah blah blah.

A lot of people from the poker world turned up but that’s good coz I like that group a lot. Jake, perrins and ash mason brought us some gifts for the house, that was nice of them I guess… they got us 2 lettuces, beechams sachets, a ‘reduced for quick sale’ plant, an ‘I love you husband’ card, multiple get well soon cards, cornflakes, lenor, a mini bottle of wine… “haha selina its coz youre mini haha”… not funny. A small packet of sweet, mens fitness magazine and some dog food (we do not have a dog.) all very appreciated. We had a game of flip cup but somehow I got stuck with jp Kelly next to me on my team and iv never seen anyone so retarded when it comes to flip cup! Somehow he has playing incredibly complicated cards down to the ground, but flipping over a plastic cup blew his mind lol. We won anyway even though them bastards on the other team accused us of cheating! tbh that’s fair as we did cheat a lot. Got a giant shisha in the basement that people seemed to enjoy but 4 days later it still stinks of bubblegum down there.

I haven’t been to tiger tiger on a Tuesday in a long time but we decided to go mid way through my party and it was really good! And for some reason we didn’t have to queue or pay to get in? Amelia said it was ‘coz we are girls’, sounds reasonable to me :D I had a great time there but salfi later told me he woke up in hospital without a phone or wallet and didn’t know why so he discharged himself and ran away lol.

Anyway I would like to thank everyone for coming :) my friend brooksy is leaving for a year in china next week so was lovely to see him. The house is still a tip and very sticky but I don’t really care, all in the name of fun. Like true animals all the boys went for another night out the next day and rob went to Sweden or somewhere random, they have such crazy random lives.

Firstly i would like to share this picture i found just now of max coz it makes me laugh, this is from sunday dinner one day when i made him whisk lots of things and he hates whisking, ha

I have been back and forthing between leeds and preston the last couple of weeks coz things keep coming up but I don’t mind coz its nice to see the fam etc and leeds it’s a bit quiet right now coz no one is around. Anyway this week I came home coz my dad was having his carpal tunnel done, its quite a simple surgical procedure and hes already had it done on his left hand but this time was his right. It causes him lots of pain, wont bore you with the science but basically its when theres pressure on the main nerve in your wrist and the operation releases it.

Hes a tough cookie so normally I wouldn’t bother coming home, would just send love from afar and send a card with a get well soon turtle on or something. But he was getting it done at a private hospital in euxton by a guy called dr malarkey (ironically he didn’t tolerate any malarkey) and we convinced him to let me go into surgery and give him a hand… slightly stretched the truth and told him I was a second year medical student with lots of medical experience but what he doesn’t know doesn’t hurt him… my dad maybe, but I was reallyyyyyy careful lol.

Originally the appointment was at 8am which I sighed and moaned a lot about but then got changed to 11 so that’s good but we got there and got bumped down the waiting list and they were single gender private rooms which is ridic so I wouldn’t be allowed in so we sat in the waiting room with no signal for like 4 hours blehhh no facebook or anything!. Spent many of these playing rack stare and hungry hamsters on my phone and I broke the coffee machine oops so we couldn’t get anything to drink and I broke the crisp machine oops so we couldn’t get anything to eat.

Eventually we got called in and I scrubbed up (which I later stole as a souvenir) and dad had to wear one of them gowns with no butt. It was all very official when we went into theatre, there was like 5 other people messing with lots of machines and a table full of knives and stabby tools, dad must have been scared but he was very brave.

First they squirted loads of local anaesthetic in his hand and cut off the blood and it went all white and shrivvely then made like a 2 inch cut at the bottom of the hand/wrist through all the fat and muscle which has got to be pulled open so you can see what youre doing. Then they split the transverse carpal ligament in two which releases the nerve but coz they have to cut through muscle to stop any bleeding they use this super hot pointy tweezer looking thing to burn the fibres which causes coagulation which = no bleeding. Was gross when they were doing that, there was bits of fat flying all over the place, like cooking bacon. Generally though it is all very clinical, I didn’t really know what to expect coz only ever messed about with cadavers but living flesh is very similar, just like doing dissections so I wasn’t really phased. Would have been well embarrassing if I passed out or something! The whole way through malarkey was quizzing me on my forearm knowledge but luckily I predicted this was coming and spruced up my carpal anatomy in the waiting room.

It was all successful and hes bandaged up and happy now so I wish him a speedy recovery J

Recently iv moved house from my halls in Clarence dock to a big house with my girls in headingley. This has possibly been the most stressful experience of my life and it was made much worse coz I was the one that had to sort everything. Theres 7 of us living here… Me, Stacey, Zoe, Rosie, Kate, Lottie and Jess but theres only me and Stacey staying over summer so seeing as we are the ones who need water and electricity and stuff, we need to organise it. It must be annoying for the rest of them handing over money and worrying about things that arnt going to affect them for a few months so I don’t blame them for not getting too involved. I don’t really mind sorting everything but its still very stressful with moving all my stuff, having to buy loads of new things, natwest shouting at me for getting overdrawn on my already very large overdraft, sorting 7 people worth of bill paying, gas, electric, water, internet, tv, etc etc especially when iv been working lots but somehow still have no money and its lots of peoples bdays and fathers day and saving for holiday and have 2 rents to pay, the whole situation is one massive sigh! But I got called weaksauce twice today so iv manned up and everything is fine now. Doesn’t help when it’s a bad time of the month lol, my ovaries have been going crazy this week firing out hormones like theres no tomorrow! Do ovaries squirt hormones? Maybe the womb? I should know that probably…

my new room, appreciate how tidy it is

Well anyway we are all settled and happy now, got the internet today wooooooo which I couldn’t be happier about! Been cut off from the world far too long. Andddd i still cant do any grinding coz all my money was on full tilt like a fool :( on the plus side though my room is really cute, its got a pretty fireplace and iv bought lots of new stuff and stuck all my pictures up and I finally have a double bed so all is well :D Zoe has been to stay for a few days which has been nice, been out for tea a few times, visited some pubs, had some nice days out but shes gone home now and staceys not back til next Saturday so im on my bill for a few days, back to naked cooking it is. Plus its our housewarming party on 18^th which im very excited about! Everyone is welcome as long as you bring us a plant or beer or something :P
